Statement on our approach to staffing during COVID-19.
We are living in unprecedented times. My thoughts and prayers go out to all those who have been ill due to the virus, and to our amazing NHS staff who are doing incredible work treating patients in their care.
As with any other UK based charity we are having to take serious thought about what we do, and how we continue to do it over the coming months, whilst retaining the reason of why we do what we do which is to see young people reach their full potential.
We have already committed to paying our staff. They are the life blood of the charity and we want to honour the amazing responses we got when we said we would continue to pay them.
However, with schools closed and our youth centre unable to open we have made the decision to furlough our Catalyst Youth team and Hannah our café worker. The governments payment scheme will pay 80% of wages, and we will pay the 20% so they will all receive 100% of their usual earnings. Something we are proud to do.
We, like many other charities, are trying to operate sensitively as we know lots of people are in severe hardships. We are still working away in the background, but going forwards our communications with you may be a little bit reduced out of respect for the situation.
