'Transforming Young People, Transforming Communities.'
We are currently seeking more projects that we can involve young people in, please contact us on 0161 425 8252 if you have something we can help transform! Past projects include: gardening, mural painting, youth club re-painting.
Transform events are day-long events devoted to community action projects undertaken by groups of our young people. Those who have participated are often then rewarded with trips or activities.
The core aims of Transform are:
- To promote a sense of citizenship and increase confidence and self esteem.
- To enable young people to make a positive difference in their local communities.
- To develop core teams of young people who will be empowered to Transform their communities.
- To encourage to help to plan, organise, and run further Transform events and promote them to their peers.
We combine positive action, social and creative activity and time spent with volunteer workers who are strong role models. These community action projects also enable young people to learn new skills and benefit from the experience of team work.
"It is difficult not to be impressed by the way in which N-Gage, through its various programmes, has transformed the lives of school pupils, some of whom have been on the verge of expulsion, by replacing anger and aggression with a greater sense of self-esteem and purpose."
Peter Fahy, Chief Constable of Greater Manchester Police.
Transform is often run in conjunction with our schools work. Where possible we offer any group we work with in a school the chance to take part in a Transform day. This supports the work we do in the classroom and also gives us a chance to see how pupils interact outside school. |
