The Step Up Course has been specially written by N-Gage Director Christie Spurling and is designed to enable young people to reach their full potential, develop new skills and grow in confidence.

"Christie is uniquely placed to reach young people in a way that more conventional and traditional methods seem unable to do. He provides an inspiring example of the way a young man can turn his life around and go on to make such a positive contribution to the benefit of the community at large, and in the lives of many young people in particular."

Primary Schools

So why have we agreed to start working in primary schools?

I have had several discussions with teachers both primary and secondary. They have all hinted that all though Step Up is a great way of working with pre exclusion pupils often the issues begin earlier in pupils education. So for this reason we have started working with primary age pupils. Using the lessons we have learnt at secondary level we are going to alter the subject material to make it age appropriate and develop a course suitable for top end primary pupils.

Pupil Feedback

Pupil Feedback from those who really know what it's like on a Step Up course!

"If I didn't come here I would be in trouble, I've learned how to listen more and co-operate. I learned about drugs, and prison, it helped me understand more"
"I have learned to listen"
"When I'm older I'm not gonna mess with drugs because it will wreck your life, and be thankful for what you have got. When I grow up I'm gonna get a good job and try not to live on benefits."
"If I didn't come to N-Gage, I would probably be permanently excluded or in serious trouble in school. Chris has helped me improve my behaviour and my attitude to people"
"I think that N-Gage has helped me and could help a lot of other people and certain people need to realise that life is worth living!"
"If I weren't in N-Gage, I might be expelled"
"It has stopped me getting in trouble"
