Drum Workshop

We are working on a promo film to tell some of the wonderful success stories we encounter at N-Gage, and showcase some of the work that we do... we made a start on it, filming with a lad called Josh who's been working in school with Christie this year. Streetwise Gang Workshops

New Gangs Resource!

N-Gage is now doing workshops using the Streetwise Gang resource, looking at the issue of gangs and the impact they have on young people.

Streetwise covers:

Weapons awareness
Street violence
Street Gangs
Drugs and Dealing
Prisons
Freestylin' - creative writing and music to unlock your potential!
Positive paths - what alternatives are their to gangs?

The young people who have participated in the course so far have given us really positive feedback:

Praise for the work of N-Gage by Chief Constable of Greater Manchester Police, Peter Fahy:

I am delighted to be able to commend N-Gage for its work amongst challenging young people. I and my colleagues are aware of the effectiveness of its strategies, and I was pleased to present its Director, Christie Spurling, with a community award last June (2009) as a mark of his agency’s achievements.

Due to his own long-term negative experiences in the classroom, Christie is uniquely placed to reach young people in a way that more conventional and traditional methods seem unable to do. He provides an inspiring example of the way a young man can turn his life around and go on to make such a positive contribution to the benefit of the community at large, and in the lives of many young people in particular.

It is difficult not to be impressed by the way in which N-Gage, through its various programmes, has transformed the lives of school pupils, some of whom have been on the verge of expulsion, by replacing anger and aggression with a greater sense of self-esteem and purpose.

I wish N-Gage every success as it continues to strive to encourage young people to realise the fullness of their potential.
