N-Gage is...

...committed to meeting young people where they are, whether that be at their school or in their local community. Many areas of youth provision are based around providing a central facility and inviting young people to come to them. N-Gage reverses this model and takes its work to the young people aiming to reach those young people who do not, or cannot access the more traditional forms of youth provision.

...passionate about the relational model of youth work. We strive to build trusting, lasting friendships and to promote a positive lifestyle, providing activities where young people can interact with Christian role-models.

...actively seeking to provide new ways of connecting with young people and is attuned to current youth trends and requirements. N-Gage also aims to provide the young people with a managed degree of autonomy when planning activities and tasks.

A big thank you to all who came along to the Sing-a-long Mamma Mia event held on Friday 22nd January.

The evening was a great success, all had a wonderful time and raised an amazing £704 for the work of N-Gage.

Roman, one of the young people we work with, came to give a demonstration of freestyle footballing - a talent that is taking him to the world championships this year!

Award Winning Charity!

N-Gage wins a Be Proud award from Manchester City Council for The Beats Multimedia Project.

Be_Proud_008-1

Launched for the new school year in 2008/2009, The Beats is an exciting addition to the schools work of N-Gage. Using state of the art laptops and software, young people work in teams to produce a CD which is sold in school to raise money for charities working with street children in Uganda.

N-Gage Director Christie Spurling remembers the first CD sale of the year:

"Just before we were due to start selling the pupils seemed very nervous and quite reluctant to set the stall up. Some were worried about how their peers may react to what they were doing and others seemed to lack confidence. As the walked down the corridor they were all walking, either alone or in pairs looking very apprehensive. After they had raised a staggering £130 they were all congratulating each other and walked along the corridor as a unified group. It was fascinating to watch and just showed how a seemingly simple task can draw people together for a shared goal."

The award was presented by BBC Northwest Tonight star, Gordon Burns and staff from event sponsor Parkway Green Housing Trust at a glittering ceremony in the splendid surroundings of Manchester Town Hall.
